Why do I have to go through a verification process?

You are submitting a request to a program reserved specifically for people employed as Teachers or Administrators in schools educating Kindergarten through 12th grade students, and higher education. For quality control purposes, and to ensure only those who fall under the Teacher and Administrator status are able to obtain this special offer, we have a very short qualification process we ask you to participate in. All information collected is strictly controlled and is never shared outside the context of this special offer verification request.

Who is SheerID?

SheerID is a third-party verification service which works on behalf of Costco to check and verify teacher credentials. For information on our services, visit us at www.SheerID.com.

What kind of information do you require to verify my Teacher/Administrator status?

Our online verification process will ask for your name, email address and school name & zip code in order to verify your Teacher/Administration status.

Does validating my identification with SheerID mean I'll start receiving emails from SheerID?

No, your email is not shared or sold. We collect your email so we can contact you concerning any questions or further information regarding your verification.

I've attempted to verify my ID but I received an error code or an unexpected response, what do I do?

Perhaps you were in too much of a hurry to access Costco's offer? As with most things, neatness counts, so make sure you correctly entered: your name, date of birth, and other information. If your official documentation says your name is Jonathon, but your friends call you John, you must use the actual name that shows on your documentation to pass the verification requirements.

I don't want to do this online, how can I talk to a real person?

Currently, this offer is only being verified and offered online. Our safe and secure process is the fastest way to complete your verification and successfully access the offer.

What happens to the information I have submitted for verification?

We will only use your information to confirm your Teacher/Administrator affiliation. We do not keep your information. We do not sell your information. What if I can't be verified electronically?

We may ask for additional documentation. Here is a list of approved forms of identification:

  • School ID Card (not expired)
  • Paystub (with personal information blacked out)
  • Acceptance Letter or Employment Offer

What happens if I can't prove I qualify for this program?

This rarely happens. All K-12 Teachers and Administrators are given some kind of official document that we'll accept but on the occasion you cannot provide us any acceptable proof of validation, we will not be able to present you with the promotional code to use on Costco.com. But just to be clear, if you are currently a K-12 Teacher or Administrator, you have a document that we can verify.

Is this program extended to substitute teachers or teachers who have been hired but do not start until this upcoming school year?

Each school district submits their information at different times so it could depend on when your school district last submitted their information to our partners. Unfortunately it varies widely between districts.

You will receive an email that includes your Costco Membership Activation Certificate. Valid for new memberships only. Costco Membership Activation Certificates are offered online only. To activate your Costco membership, bring your activation certificate to your local Costco membership counter. Visit Costco.com to find the location near you.

Restrictions: Valid for new memberships only.
Not valid for renewal of an existing Costco membership. Costco Membership Activation Certificates have no cash value. Costco Membership Activation Certificates are not replaceable if lost, stolen or destroyed. Costco Membership Activation Certificates are valid at any U.S. or Puerto Rico Costco location. Costco Membership Activation Certificates can only be returned to the place of purchase.

Valid for new memberships and upgrades to Executive Membership. Costco Wholesale Gold Star Membership Activation Certificates are not replaceable if lost, stolen or destroyed. Bring to your Membership Activation Certificate to a local Costco membership counter to activate. Not responsible for lost, stolen, or expired Activation Certificates. The Activation Certificates must be ordered online and may not be purchased in local retail locations. Activation Certificate are not valid for renewal of existing membership.

Refund Policy: Costco Membership Activation Certificates can only be returned to the place of purchase for the full amount paid, excluding any shipping costs.
